About The Cats
I couldn't make a webpage and not put something about my two spoiled babies on here. Mischief was trapped in North Attleboro and brought to the North Attleboro Animal Shelter where they called her Chippy. Smokey was adopted from Winslow Farm about a month after his previous owners abandoned him. The landlord found Smokey in a tiny carrier a day or two after his tenants had moved out and brought him to the farm.
Mischief
No one was sure if Mischief could be socialized, but I decided to take a chance and adopted her with
the understanding that I would give it 5 months to see how things worked out. She spent the 1st month being fully crated in a large dog crate so she could get used to us, the sounds of the house, and to let her and our cat Smokey adjust to each other also. She was about 6-8 months old at that time and had the name Chippy. She was thin and her fur was dull and gross looking.. We all disliked the name Chippy and took to calling her Kitty until we figured out a real name for her. Once we started letting her out of the cage, we soon came to realize that she was always getting into something and named her Mischief. It took about 3 months to socialize her to me and another month for my husband and son to be able to pet her. And a year before she was okay with strangers coming into the house. She's about 6yrs old now and has decided that she wants to be a lap cat. She is still a mischievous pain in the butt, but we love her.
Smokey
Smokey was about 4 when we adopted him and his previous owner kept him in a small crate for the whole of those 4 years. Because of this, Smokey is very skittish and does not like being pet on his back half. He jumps at almost every noise he hears and we have taken to using a calming collar during holiday months to help him when things get busy around here with visitors. We also put one on him when we go on vacation. He's a sweet cat and loves my son the most of anyone. He actually waits for him at the door when it gets close to him coming home from work. He did the same thing when my son was in school also lol. Smokey is about 11yrs old now and has become very vocal when something is not the way he wants it to be.
