A Little Bit About Me

I'm Marie, and I have been an animal lover all my life. I have a wonderful husband and son, and I was a house cleaner 20+ years. About 12years ago, one of my house cleaning clients asked me if I wanted to also become her dog sitter, and I said "YES!" Over the last 12 years I have picked up a few other sitting and drop-in clients and began to slowly drop my house cleaning clients. When Covid hit, I lost almost all my drop-ins and a few of my sittings, which was crushing. Over the past 3years things have been looking up and I have gained some amazing new clients :)

I have two wonderful cats that are both rescues. Smokey, who is scared of the world and jumps at his own shadow but is a sweet boy and Mischief. Mischief is a pain in the butt and lives up to her name in every way lol, but we love her and wouldn't trade her for anything.

In March of 2022, I decided pet sitting was the only thing I wanted to do and told my last house cleaning I would no longer be cleaning houses so I could focus on making pet sitting my full-time job. Since then, I have picked up some wonderful new clients and made a lot of new animal friends!

I have yet to meet an animal I do not love, and I love visiting zoos and doing animal encounters that are offered to learn about endangered species and find out why and how I can help. Aquariums, butterfly houses, and animal sanctuaries are also big on my visit list each year. My biggest dream right now is to one day meet Esther the Wonder Pig. My dream will not be coming true :( as Esther has passed away, but I would still like to visit the sanctuary she lived at someday.

I volunteered at an animal sanctuary for 5 years and while there I gained a lot of experience with goats, pigs, donkeys, sheep, chickens, llamas, alpacas, and mini ponies. Currently, I am a barn mucker for a wonderful woman three mornings a week and have gained even more experience with donkeys and alpacas and have learned a bit about ducks. I do have some experience with horses, too. I rode for 4 years when I was a kid and gained a bit more experience while at the sanctuary. So, if you have a horse or two in your backyard, I know enough to muck their stalls and feed and water them lol, don't worry I can also halter and lead them to a corral if needed :) I know it's hard for people with farm animals as pets to find sitters, so I am glad I will hopefully be able to help out with that.

I do not like the idea of telling people what I plan to do with their pets while they are away. I feel that during the meet and greet, as questions are asked, I will learn what I am going to be doing because every animal is different. I can tell you that I will treat your pet(s) as if they were my own while you are away. I should also mention that I am also certified for pet 1st aid and CPR.

I watch my 7-year-old niece from Friday afternoons to Saturday afternoons so she will be with me on my sittings during those times.  This being said, all pets must be child friendly for me to be their sitter! It is also possible that I have my niece on other days during the week, especially during school vacations.
